If I am careful, do I really need to backup my data?

Answered By Editor

Even if a person is extremely careful, data loss is inevitable. As the machine deteriorates, it will eventually lose all the data in it, it's not just a matter of error, but when the hardware will eventually die. Keeping your data in just one place is one of the biggest error there is.
