Can you answer Jess’s question about Data Recovery?:
My hard drive recently crashed and I lost everything, including probably close to 200 dollars worth of music downloaded from Itunes. Is there a way I can get back this downloaded music? Like is there a way to log into my Itunes account and have my old music be there still? Will apple reimburse me for this lost music?

Data Recovery Feedback: Apple does not allow you to re-download Purchased Content. Next time make sure to BACKUP. I know, it sucks, but thats how they get you. My advice, get from friends and try to rebuild what you had. If your hard drive is still usable, try to find the music. If not, good luck.
Data Recovery Feedback: technically, yes. the information in your hard drive is harder to get rid off than you’d think. I was in a similar position a few months ago and I got the help of a techy friend (who works for google). he got hold of a software, which sad to say I know nothing about, and rescued my files. there are software out there that offer the same retrieval services, but I didn’t want to risk it. but yes. there is hope.
Data Recovery Feedback: Itunes wont reimburse you for the tunes.
if you have an ipod, you’re music will all still be there.
go to this website if that’s the case:
and apparently this guy got all of his purchased music back.
Data Recovery Feedback: No and no. This happened to my sister and Apple said that they disclaim any liability for lost music, saying that they warn users to frequently back up their music library to CD’s or a DVD. Soultion? or bittorrent. You should be well within your rights to re-download your purchased music, even from a somewhat less than legal (normally) source, although I’m no lawyer. Be sure to turn of filesharing if you do use torrent though, because letting others download the music woud be illegal.
Data Recovery Feedback: Actually, I think it might be possible?
Data Recovery Feedback: Thats a good question,, lol i never thought of that,, have u disposed of the hard drive? it’s possible to attach the drive as a slave and copy ur music files,,, usually its just the MBR on a drive thats crashed and not the ‘drive’ but if it’s a IDE drive u can attach it to the extra connector on the ribbon and browse it like a regular drive,,but thats a suggestion it is possible the drive is completely zapped in that case i would call apple they must have a solution for that
Data Recovery Feedback: if you are buying music
do the sensible thing PLEASE !!!!!!!!!
burn your files to a cd // (about a year or so ago / i purchased elton johns new cd “the captain & the kid” it came with a free downloadable live version of a song from his 1975 album captain fantastic the song was a 10 minute version of “we all fall in love sometimes” i had never heard a live version of this song, and i like the album version so i downloaded it into windows media player thats what it instructed me to do// it did NOT warn me to burn it to a cd!!!!! (but i knew better !!)
so i put it on a cd with windows media players burner!!! the next day, when i went to look within windows media players “my music” folder IT WAS GONE!! but aha!!! // aha!!! (I KNEW BETTER)
nero will even burn mp3 files to a dvd (if you have lots)
if you are not getting burnable mp3 files // may i suggest you get with some software that will convert your files to burnable mp3’s(its out there// and not that expensive at all !!!!!) (especially if you are shelling out .99 cents per track(WOW!!!!)
get an external hard drive (don’t rely on itunes programs system folders)i have read here so many times people are getting screwed by itunes !!!!! GRRR!!! (i hate itunes , i tried using it, and was very patient. but could not get to like it at all!!!! it makes me mad) /// create your own folders and direct your new downloads to your own folders) the settings that enable you to do this are there within the program // use them!!!!!! (its just the same as directing a picture file where you want it to go on your computer) or any file for that matter!!!!!!
that way you will not lose anything !!!!! (oh boy, i hate itunes!!!!!!!)
