So please tell me whether an external storage device like DVD or CD can be used to back up the data. Also let me know if that will have any problems with data restoration ?
Recover Data From Hard Drive

Data Recovery Feedback: Yes, however in my experience I have run into many problems with backing up on CD (corrupt files, disk was damaged etc..). You should invest in an external hard drive. You can find one with a smaller capacity for relatively cheap. Good luck!
Data Recovery Feedback: why not burn your files directly on the cd/dvd instead of using the utility?
yes, you can use cd’s/dvd’s.
you can also use an external hard disk for back-up.
Data Recovery Feedback: Denpending on how much data though dvd’s and especially cd’s won’t store much. External HDD is the best
Data Recovery Feedback: No prblem at all provided you have re-writeable drive, and use re-writeable disks. Make you backup, preferably save it to your drive and then burn the whole backup folder to the disk. If you do it this way you can use several (2, 3 or 4) disks. If you rotate these in order you will always have a backup to the backup, even if it is a few days older. This covers against you losing or damaging a disk. After each backup you can delete the hard disk copy to save space.
Data Recovery Feedback: ok here is how this can be done you can use cd (r) or cd(rw) for pic files and Documents now for music files or movies lol you use dvd (r) or dvd (rw ) cd as the music / movies are kinda big files if your going to back up music /movies lol on to the dvd (r) / dvd(rw) cd your need nero software as windows xp does not let you use its burning software within windows xp now for your .pic files / Documents all you do is this put in a cd(rw) cd in the drive then wait for the light to go to my computer .click on that to open it then right click on your dvd drive that has the cd(rw) cd in and click on explore now you have the window open just move your pic files & Documents to that open window then you will see the files in there with a + on them at the top click on “FILE” /WRITE /THESE FILES TO CD . now name the cd anything like my photos / Documents thn click next now windows xp burning software will burn the pic / Document files on to your new cd(rw) disk when the burning is done a message will pop up saying all work doen and your dvd .drive will open the door just close the door on the dvd drive with the dvd(rw) in and right click on that dvd drive again and click on explore and you will see all your files you have burn to the dvd (rw) disk
Data Recovery Feedback: Hi,
The easy thing to do is invest in a copy of “Nero 7″ which will handle all your Backup’s and burning for you (and also validate it to). The windows backup is really poor at doing it.
Data Recovery Feedback: I recommend you to use Acronis True Image for backup tasks. It is more stable than MS backup utility and it has many useful features that will make your backup/restore as fast and secure as it possible. With True image you can easily store your data on CDs or DVDs. Follow the link to learn more:
